Surrey Dance Festival 2017

Echelford Dance their way to success on 23rd February

On Thursday 23rd February, a group of Key Stage 2 dancers set off to Surrey Sports Park in Guildford to take part in the Surrey Dance Festival. They had spent many weeks rehearsing for this exciting event and were all eager to showcase their hard work to a large audience.

In the morning, the girls participated in a range of dance workshops that gave them an insight into different styles of dancing; they learnt two new dances alongside children from other schools and performed one of these later that day.

As the audience began to grow, the girls prepared for the showcase that took place in the afternoon. The dancers performed brilliantly and showed real determination, passion and teamwork - which are some of the Surrey Sports Values. Below you can see them in action!

Over the course of the day, the adults that were supporting the children were able to put nominations forward for any school they felt were meeting the Surrey Sports Values. After the showcase, a representative from the Surrey Sports team came along to present an award to the school with the most nominations. The children were under no impression that an award would be presented and were therefore completely surprised and thrilled when Echelford were announced as the winning school - the girls accepted the award with grace and pride.

In addition to this, one of our dancers, Ruby Clark, was awarded with a medal and certificate for her individual efforts in meeting the Surrey Sports Values. Congratulations to all of the girls that took part and performed so brilliantly, we are all very proud of your achievement.
