At Echelford we are following the new National Curriculum for Science. This curriculum aims to equip pupils with a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, allowing pupils to increase their understanding, whilst developing an excitement and curiosity about the world around them.
We aim to provide our pupils with a deep and secure understanding of Scientific knowledge and concepts across the three specific disciplines of Science. In order to achieve this, our curriculum is divided into areas which are covered repeatedly across the school. The main areas of our study are ‘Animals including Humans’, ‘Plants’, ‘Materials’, ‘Light’, ‘Electricity’ and ‘Forces’. Alongside that, each year group have additional topics involving other key areas of Science .Within all of the topics we teach, pupils are urged to question and investigate in a variety of ways, as we encourage them to explain, predict and analyse the world around them.
