Home-School Agreement

Home School Agreement

We believe children learn best within the context of a home-school relationship built on trust and open and honest dialogue.  Key messages in terms of the expectations of this relationship are captured in our Home School Agreement which we ask all parents to sign at the outset of their relationship with our school.

Our Vision

The Echelford Primary School puts the children's needs at the heart of its provision.  Our whole school community is committed to enabling the children to become successful lifelong learners and happy, fulfilled adults who can make positive choices about their future.

Parental Conduct

For our Home School Agreement to work and help to ensure the best outcomes for our children, everybody needs to respect the professional relationships required in schools. Our staff work to the highest expectations of professional conduct and are held to account should their behaviour fall short of our expectations. We therefore ask that all parents frame questions and concerns in a calm and respectful manner to prevent parental behaviour becoming an issue in itself.

More information on parental conduct can be found here

Parents/Carers agree to:

  • Make sure my child is at school on time and collected on time.
  • Help my child to keep the behaviour expectations set by the school.
  • Support my child in understanding how to respond appropriately to reasonable requests.
  • Help my child to achieve a minimum 95% attendance figure through regular attendance at school and through working with the school to resolve any concerns or difficulties my child may have.
  • Inform the school promptly if there are any problems that may affect my child’s attendance or learning.
  • Speak to the class teacher in the first instance if I have a concern and use the appropriate escalation policy to achieve a resolution to that concern, rather than via other means (e.g. social media).
  • Help my child to be organised about the equipment they need.
  • Make sure my child wears the correct uniform.
  • Support my child with home learning and other learning opportunities e.g. listening to my child read.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences.
  • Respect & trust the decisions made by the school regarding my child’s provision, including allocation to classes.
  • Read and respond when necessary to communication which comes from the school e.g. weekly newsletters.
  • Follow the expectations for parental conduct.

Pupils agree to:

  • Always try to behave in a way that helps us all to achieve our very best.
  • Respond appropriately to reasonable requests.
  • Help my parents or carers to help me arrive in school on time.
  • Always wear the correct school uniform.
  • Always try to complete home learning to the best of my ability and bring it back to school at the right time.
  • Tell my teacher if I have a problem in school.
  • Always try to make sure I have the right equipment in school on the right days e.g. PE kit, book bags etc.

School agrees to:

  • Help the children understand expectations of behaviour which ensures a happy and successful learning environment at all times.
