Year 5 learning this week

Below you will find our weekly teaching and learning summary to find out how we develop and enrich your child's learning whilst they are with us.

Week ending What we have been learning about
18/07/25 `In our final week of Year 5, we have been finishing any lessons we need to in order to have a fun-packed final few days together. In Literacy, we have had the choice to write a diary entry, letter, narrative or newspaper report about what has happened so far in our Power of Reading text - The Adventures of Odysseus. This has given Year 5 some freedom to create their own piece of work and they have done brilliantly. In Maths, we have now finished all of our topics and looked at recapping imperial and metric units, involving how to convert them and when we would use them. In PE., we had a rounders tournament across the year group, which was exciting. Well done to our Headteacher Award winners - Millie C, Anaya and Max. Have a lovely summer Year 5… or should we say Year 6?
11/07/25

This week, Year 5 have been finishing off their assessments for Maths and Reading, getting them prepared for SATS. We have enjoyed the Year 6 production - it was brilliant! In Maths, we have been learning about division with remainders and working out the average of a set of numbers. In Literacy, we have been writing summaries of Chapter 5 of our book, working to integrate dialogue to advance action and convey character. In P.E, we have been enjoying the hot weather by playing rounders, cricket and basketball outside.
