Relationships & Sex Education
Statement of Intent
At Echelford, we are committed to providing a curriculum that prepares our pupils for the challenges of the modern world while keeping their safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. In line with the Department for Education’s updated statutory guidance for September 2026, we are updating our Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE) curriculum in line with the changes.
As we follow the Jigsaw Scheme, Relationships and Changing Me are the two overarching areas of learning for the Summer Term. As you will appreciate, this is an important but sensitive part of children’s learning. There is a very serious safeguarding aspect to this work and this has been further highlighted by the changes to the curriculum.
