    History

Children are always naturally enthusiastic and inquisitive about History – it gives them insight into the world in which they live today. They learn about the ways in which keys events and people have shaped and influenced the world.

In Key Stage 1 children learn that they can investigate the past through a range of sources, for example; photographs, artefacts, buildings, toys and stories. At Key Stage 2 history is further developed through study units including life in Roman, Anglo Saxon and Victorian times, as well as learning about the Greek civilisation, the Aztecs, the monarchs and World War 2.

At Echelford, we embrace the opportunity for cross curricular links through the Power of Reading text the children are studying in Literacy lessons, enabling them to gain a greater understanding of the context in which the text has been set.
